At Paisley Carpet Cleaning, We encounter all types of spills and stains on all types of carpet. Makeup is one of the most common stains we are called out to treat on a weekly basis.
The thing Makeup looks great when it’s used the correct way. Ideally on the face, and not poured across the carpet.
Unfortunately carpet makeup isn’t a trend that’s caught on yet!!
The images on this post show our results from a recent carpet cleaning customer. Her little girl had disappeared into the bedroom and was being unusually quiet. It turns out she was being quiet because she needed to concentrate on the task in hand, making her dollies beautiful, by doing their makeup, just like mummy.
We didn’t realise just how expensive a tiny bottle of foundation could be but that little stain is apparently £80 worth of makeup. Our client was more upset about the loss of the foundation than the stain on the carpet.
To make things more difficult, the customer had tried to remove the stain herself. Luckily she stopped when she could see it was making it worse.
You can see to the left of the image where the stain has been rubbed into the carpet. This is the worst thing to do.
The carpet cleaning technicians at Paisley Carpet Cleaning are called out to treat makeup stains and spills on a regular basis. From mascara flaked all over the carpet, to nail polish bottles spilled across the floor.
Stain removal training
Luckily we have invested in stain removal training for all our carpet cleaning technicians, and, we invest in the best products available so we can normally always remove the stains or reduce it to a level you can live with. CARPET CLEANING TIP- We have a much better chance of success if you dont try to remove the stain yourself! It may seem like reaching for a bottle of Vanish or carpet stain remover 1001 is a great idea at the time, but this can actually cause more damage and make it harder to remove the original stain. In some cases the bleach contained in these products can cause the colour in the carpet to be damaged leaving light patches.
If in doubt you can always call Paisley Carpet Cleaning on 07849 519 431 for advice on any carpet cleaning issue.
Nail polish Stain on Carpet
We can treat this with our solvent Paint, oil and Gum remover. Nail polish stains should be left untreated until we arrive, any attempt at DIY removal will normally push the nail polish into the carpet, making complete removal impossible.
Mascara stain treatments
Mascara stains on carpets can be treated using our ECO POG carpet and upholstery stain remover. Paisley Carpet Cleaning can treat or remove most stains from carpets and upholstery.
Foundation stain on carpet
When attempting stain removal, never rub. Always blot the stain with a clean cotton cloth. This will allow the stain to transfer to the absorbent cotton fibres without pushing them into the base of the carpet.
Blot Blot Blot
Blotting the stain with a white cotton cloth stops the spillage being pushed into the carpet fibres. As you can see from this image, the blotting process is slow but effective. It’s easy to become impatient and think the stain will come out quicker if you rub. Big mistake !!
If in doubt, it’s always best to call the professionals for advice. At paisley carpet cleaning we are happy to advise on any stain treatments we offer and the likelihood of removal.
